Ok so am now exploring photographers and digital work. Kim Joon a korean artist has a talent for painting pattern upon body forms, creating beautiful images of body tattoos, some of which incorporate and poke a little fun at consumerism and iconic brands.

I've been really slack but here is an amazing photographer I stumbled across today -Daniela Edburg who has created stunning scenes with witty imagery and themes take a look at her portfolio of work Here. I particularly love her Drop Dead Gorgeous set of work -playing on everyday over indulgence of consumerism as forms of death.

Sweet with a whole lotta edge -Cynthia Rowleys Spring 2010 collection. Now I know it's from a while back but I still can't help but love it. She has some gorgeous girly silhouettes layered and shredded in places covered in blotches of smokey pattern that suggest a darker undertone to the traditional dress form. The patterns are beautifully done -dyed florals and patches of melting colour. Take a further look here

Amazing.

I came across Fantasy Floral Designs while having a looksie through the website bakery these are the most stunningly unique floral bouqets I've ever seen -it really makes you think about what extremes and different themes you could take your wedding to. I know if I ever get married it would be great to have a wonderful bouqet like these though I'd forever be 'borrowing' pins from it to wear daily -which is actually a nice idea really. Only problem would be sourcing the gorgeous brooches... hmmmm

Perusing through a few blogs getting hooked into that cycle again of 'one more click, I can stop when I want to' phase -but really I can't. There are just too many wonderful things to look at out there in the illustration and design world.

Right time for some sharing... while visiting Chocolate Creative (mighty awesome blog) I fell upon this blog -Website Bakery -an amazing site for all your illustration & inspiration needs and desires. Here I discovered Lydia Meiying who has created some really fun and bright patterns here, she has an etsy shop too so you can have a piece of the action for your very own self. Joojoo gave up her career as a web designer to become an amazing artist/sculptor/jeweller have a looksie at some of her adorable images and clay snails here at her Etsy shop,I just love this super cute sketch of hers below.

Camilla!

I don't really see myself as the Kaftan wearing type but if I did I would most definitely choose one from Camilla Franks collection. The Australian designer has created a collection tributed to Avatar for the Rosemount fashion week and I have to say the colours are absolutely gorgeous. I love that the kaftan is one giant canvas. The digial imagery is amazing and very inspiring and kinda makes me want to try a kaftan now, too bad it's winter.. then again you could really dress to the season in this -layer one with some tights cinch the waist with a belt, add a thermal top underneath and you're good to go.

Hmmm

What to do what to do?... I've been working on a piece which is quite different to what I usually do -different colours too... any how I'm a little stuck. I know it needs something in the bottom left corner leading up but I can't decide on what. I'm thinking of adding a silhouetted bird in behind the flowers (yes they are flowers...) with long tail feathers and a bit of line pattern within -similar to the gold and black bottom image, but I can't quite decide on the placement. Hmmmm. (I've also realised just how terrible the photos are -I really need to get a new camera, mine has been dropped way too many times plus it a steady hand would help...)

This last image is a painting I did as a wedding gift for my sister earlier this year.

In The Sun

I absolutely love SHE & HIM (also very jealous of Zooey Deschanel and her quirky effortlessly stylish vintage fashion sense!) could not help but giggle a tiny bit watching this though, made me want to get up and dance a bit -just a little bit...

it's time!

It's Aussie fashion week so I thought I'd have a quick looksie at what's going on over there at the mo. Ginger & Smart's latest collection went on show 'Rythmn of Light’ they have some great layered shapes going on and I have to admit I am a fan of this dress and the stunning shoulders. The pattern reminds me of when you get rain spots on your camera lens and the sun reflects bouncing rainbow colours.

I love the match of colours and the layers of different aesthetics -slashed tunics with tailored jackets over leggings.

Now I know I should probably show you a glimpse of a little bit more of Lisa Ho's collection but I just can't get enough of the amazing feathered skirt! So you can just go to her site and take a look for yourself.

Alice McCall has some great fun and flirty little dresses, I love the cut out layered backs going on in this one

Glory glory!

My mum has started a glory box for my sister and me -who ever has kids first. I'm almost positive my sister is going to beat me to it, but I'd be gutted because there are some cute things going in there. Mum knits, sew's and crochets in her spare time and she's building up quite a collection. A while ago I bought a gorgeous crocheted blanket from Trade Aid in bright corals and blush pinks and I love it. I recently stumbled across some patterns online on how to make Babette Blankets so I'm starting classes with my mum as tutor this weekend to try my hand at crochet, I'm not too sure if I have the patience for it but am going to give it a shot!

oh Audrey!

I've had one of Audrey Kawasaki's images as my desktop background for quite a while now, I like it so much I don't think I've changed it for about 6 months! Audrey is an amazily talented person who's work focuses mainly on illustrative portraits of young women full of lust and... alluring innocence? They have a mix of vintage drawing & painting styles with japanese manga like figures. I love how she paints straight onto wooden blocks instead of canvas -it appears smoother and adds a really appealing texture to the works.

Kareena Kareena

Came across another great illustrator who's talent I'm equally jealous of.

Kareena Zerefos creates great images of stories from her childhood, things she remembers and those that remind her of life growing up in the rural outskirts of Aussie. A lot of the images are based on children in animal disguise, bird's, deer, horses, bats heads & wings mixed with playful whimsical children. I also love her use of colour -watery layers with inks combined with sketch.

Harps back to a time when you believed you could grow up to be anything -absolutely ANYTHING.

Johnny boy

I was doing a spot of shopping this arvo with my mum and we wondered into Kimberly's where I fell in love with these gorgeous necklaces by Johnny Ramli. Did you fall in love with them too?!

He's taken antique coins and religious icons -cut them up into geometric shapes and placed them within oxidized silver and gold mouldings. I would not be complaining if one of these stunners happened to find it's way into my jewellry box...

He also has a pretty range of classic design clutches and bags.

Very talented illustrator Catherine Campbell who hails from Australia and studied at the University of NSW. Check out her blog here and her portfolio here!

Side note: I've had a bit of fun overload when I first started this blog so now that I've explored and experimented with 'several' text colour schemes I'm doing an overhaul and am going to try stick to one theme! watch and see... but if I slip up now and then it's really not my fault. I can't help it I like colour too much.

So a couple of things today to make up for the time between posts...

First off -how is it I've never heard of 'Sunprints' before! This is an awesome idea and I'm seriously considering ordering me some of the paper! check out these amazing prints by Deirdre Hawthorne -oh so pretty! The paper comes out blue but Deirdre creates digital prints from these hence the colour range in her pieces.

ok so the low down -It's a photographic paper that you place objects on and sit in the sun (for a certain amount of time -my googling hasn't told me just how log yet...) then you rinse with water and vollah! you have a great print!

hmmmm very tempting to purchase but I think I need to explore my gocco before I try anything new again. Must stick to one thing at a time! I get distracted far too easily.

Next up is just a little random thing -my impression of a chicken... a ceramic tile made when I was about 7 or 8??? Actually not entirely sure of this age -I should have taken a photo of the sign but I didn't so we'll just take a wild guess. Any who my sister and I both made one, I rememeber it was during a holiday break and we went to a pottery place and got to play around with these tiles, I had no clue what to draw on mine until I looked around and found chickens wondering around (we were on a farm), my sister drew a book.

I don't think I knew at the time what was happening with these tiles but they ended up in the town centre on a massive mural wall. I walked past it today with my trusty camera and thought hey I should probably take a picture just in case as you never know it may be torn down tomorrow. So there you have it. My first chicken drawing. I'm sure of it.

Have been playing around a bit again with some pencil drawings scanned into photoshop... not too sure I like them but are good to practice my colour combos with... as garish as they are.

I'm supposed to be coming up with a print design to use on my brand new -second hand- Gocco! I can't wait to use it but I don't want to rush into it too quickly as there aren't a lot of supplies for it. BUT I keep getting distracted and off on a tangent, I'm over thinking it. I need to just draw a scribble and print that!

RightO back to the drawing board.
