Y U L I A

While browsing Sally's blog I came across a crazy paper illustrator Yulia Brodskaya who curls bits of paper into amazing images and has created masterpieces for Hermes & Cadbury to name a couple. When I was little my sister was very much into this and used to create all her christmas and birthday cards using the same technique, although sorry sis I think Yulia has you beat...

S A L L Y

Had a quick peek at Paper Bow Studio's facebook page today, they allow designers to post patterns on their wall which is great, because that's how I found out about Sally Boyle! Sally has created some very beautiful vector prints. Reminds me a weeee bit of Catalina Estrada's work but not as detailed?... Take a quick peek at her webbie here!

LAST ONE!

Saved my favourite for last!

Carrie Osborne won the TigerPrint award at the New Designers Expo and surely deserved it.

She's created some refreshing playful, quirky illustrated wallpapers and fabrics which were quite different to most of the other designs I saw today.

Quite jealous really.

Summer Morgan -Illustrator with crazy narrative prints and textile pieces! Her website is pretty neat too!

Toni Lake -Amazing digital fabrics but you'll have to go to her Carbon site to see more! (I don't usually post images the artist has specifically popped a label over but I wanted to share as it truely is some beautiful work).

Leanne Ward -Textile Grad has some beautiful designs that you have to look closely at or you'll mistake the images for colour. Very subtle.
Lucy Alice Porter -had quite a different approach to her textile designs and worked more with mixed media and charming animal silhuoettes, LOVE.

A S H L E I G H Smith

First up I'm going to gush about Ashleigh Smith grad from Heriot Watt Uni and her colourful contemporary digital patterns. LOVE THEM.

One thing that was glaringly obvious with all of the universities -they have really pushed the boundaries of Digital design which is great but it actually made you think oh no there's too much of it, everyone is doing the same thing! So I found myself drawn more towards the simple digital repeats like Ashleighs above which tend to focus on vector geometric imagery rather than the collaged photo techniques many employed. (However I'm not going to bash it too much as there were some AMAZING pieces of the latter).

NEW D E S I G N E R S

Trawling though the net late last night and came across the New Designers webpage. They showcase graduate designers from around the UK and just happened to have a showcase running this week with the last day being today! So I quickly snapped up a ticket online and got super excited for the day ahead and rightly so!
