Time to show off some of what I saw at the expo today!
Meet Frances Andrews -Love her temporary jewellery range ( a little inspired perhaps by Chanel?...)
Spent the afternoon at the New Designers Expo today. Well worth the trip -there are some very talented up and comers out there! I'm all envious and jealous!

Digital printing was again the main ingredient for most of the grads, very many of which were amazing but I'm still a little gutted there weren't very many (as in count on a few fingers) the amount of designers who used straight screen printing processes. What happened to the good old days!.... oh technology...

I spoke with a couple of the grads to get a better understanding as to why they don't do much (if any!) hand printing and was suprised to learn that schools/ tutors and the industry are pushing the students towards the digi market as it is more economical, cost and time wise (in other words a bigger profit margin for them). There are sooooo many arguments for and against this I don't even know where to begin. It's kind of disappointing? But maybe that's just me?... I kinda like the idea that not every print will be the same and may have some individual aspects to them but then again I like the appeal of being able to have as many colours as I want in a digi print without having to layer separate in the screen print process...(I know, pot black jess?).

Have been doing a weeee bit of traveling around Europe lately... (okay so I've been on a plane more times this year than I have in my entire life!). SO lets see this year alone I've been to Budapest, Prague, Barcelona, Santorini and have just arrived home from a weekend away in Rome! Oh the joys of budget travel deals and having all of these amazing places so close to each other! So disappointed I will have to be leaving soon to go home to NZ, it's super expensive and time consuming to just jump on a plane and head off somewhere for the weekend.
Anywho thought I'd share a few pics from my latest travels!
The most amazingly beautiful and intricate paintings in Rome to the gorgeous blue and white scenery of Santorini!

I do not understand this ridiculous new trend.
I saw a girl in Barcelona with one and had to get a closer look as I was sure she had a dog in there somewhere... Also thought it would never catch on but then I see a girl in Trafalga Square today with one and had to google this hideous phenomenon. Turns out the big name fashion houses thought it would be an awesome idea -what controversy this will bring from PETA...

Dori Csengeri -very talented jewellery designer hailing from Tel Aviv.
All hand made and embroidered
Beautiful!
Am all inspired by Effie Trinkets costumes, LOVE the colours, makeup and the nails! oh the nails!
May or may not have seen Hunger Games again today... only makes two! Don't judge...oh go ahead what do I care!
Found the above makeup tutorial for Effie's fab look -a bit much for me... but you could totally pair it down to the eyeliner and shadow... couldn't you?... She'd be an amazing costume idea for a party!

Okay so was prepared for the worst when I went to the movies today to see Mirror Mirror. BUT I was as they say pleasantly suprised! I really enjoyed it! However I think most of this was due to the amazing costumes, colours and set design.
I've had a bit of exploration time on the net to indulge myself in the costumes all over again and discovered the extremely talented costume Designer Eiko Ishioka died in January of this year. She's created brilliant costumes for both cinema and stage.
Some parts of the movie (especially the ball scene with everyone in white) reminded me a wee tad of the ball scene in the Labyrinth...
