Gosh it has been a while! Woops! 

Anywho with the help of Wix and their freeeeeee website builder (google sites I have given up on you sorry...) I've created a much better up to date webby page with all my stuff on it. 

So if you'd like to just follow me......

Only now I have to look at paying for an actual domain name... I'm getting there! 

Because I'm still pondering and not entirely sure how to go about it/know which is the best option... for those of you who have queried and others wondering... you can see my available prints through this link which will take you to my portfolio webpage.

Just a quick little piece which I completed yesterday as part of my drawing process at the Arts Trail to show people how I work. For those of you keen to see the finished product -here you go!

(I had also completed a bright little kingfisher which I sold to a stall visitor yesterday and forgot to take a picture for my records! oh well!)

Well! I must say it was a smashing weekend at the Arts Trail! What started off as a very slow -oh no what am I doing here Saturday...turned into a yay can we keep going Sunday! 

Thanks to everyone who came along and showed enthusiasm and support for my work. It was great chatting to people about my process -several people were adamant they were all drawn on the computer so after explaining and setting up a drawing area on my table top people were better informed! 

Am going to be right busy until the end of the year with five newly commissioned pieces to have done for the Christmas rush! 

Best get to it!

My beautiful cousin got engaged last weekend and asked me ages ago to draw her a bunch of flowers, so this is what she got as a pressie.

Have been organising myself for the Arts trail next weekend! Everything is framed up ready to go furiously trying to add a few more pieces just in case!

I've been playing around with garment placement and am dying to get some lightweight fabrics printed with my illustrative patterns, it's tough finding a digital printer here though! Might have to try abroad!

As mentioned in an earlier post I'd taken a leap and booked myself in on a short two day crash course in Photoshop for Textile Design at Auckland University and am really glad I did!

Throughout the two days I learnt there are so many ways to make pattern repeats which have proved far easier then any of the time consuming, confusing processes I'd self taught via youtube/google and even the original course I completed at Uni years ago! So if you are NZ local I'd recommend taking one of AUT's short courses -even as just a refresher as Photoshop CS6 has so many new aspects. 

My only concerns with the course is that two days was not enough time to fully immerse yourself into it, we were pretty rushed on the second day to learn new pattern repeat processes, try them out then get ready for the digital printer in the afternoon so it was a bit of a 'ooo that pattern kind of works lets wack that on some fabric'.... so I did. With three of them. Because I'm indecisive like that... I had high hopes of making some small purses or something out of them but didn't really consider the repeat size and its a wee bit large on all of them for that end product.

But I can now say I have some new technical knowledge that has inspired me to start churning out pattern after pattern -starting with my illustrations -further posts to follow I assure you!

All individual shops, hand drawn & coloured with Pro-markers (maybe a couple of Tria markers thrown in for good measure...)

Am in the process of making them all hanging out on the same street, and the Candle store is on its way...

More houses! From my House series

The first are my version of the houses on Tinakori road in Wellington -old style victorian era. 

The second are New York style Apartment buildings.

The good thing about Markets is networking and making connections! I know it's small but you have to start some place right? 

I was asked by a very nice stall to help with their business card imagery -they specialise in beautiful yummy smelling soy based candles in vintage china teacups and soaps. So was asked to draw a teacup for their card. 

I sketched out the above and coloured it up all ready for them with variations which they had printed off with their own text generated through Vista etc -I think they came out pretty good, although I'd change the text around a bit. 

The original teacup image was about A5 size and now sits at their market stall framed for anyone to see.

To Market, to market! 

So I've now displayed my wares at two markets (same location at the top of the Wellington Cable car) and found it pretty fun, met some fabulous people! 

I didn't sell an amazing amount but it was nice to know there are some people out there who do like my doodles!  Did sell out of the Tui print though and the Green caravan which surprisingly I didn't think would be a top seller! 

For those of you who took a business card/bought a print etc and want to buy more please feel free to drop me an email and I'll get back to you! I'm also looking into creating an Etsy account so fear not! there will be ways and means of which to purchase. Failing that -rock on up to the cable car market again this weekend (specifically Saturday...) and I will be there with bells on! 

Case of the nerves! 

Am getting all ready for my first craft market day tomorrow! Need to gauge if anyone out there is interested in my pictures! 

This particular market is at the top of the Wellington Cable car specifically targeted towards the cruise ship passengers due in port tomorrow. As it's cruise ship season Wellington tends to get an average of 1-2 ships in each day from January to the end of March -so I'm a wee bit late in joining in!
